Clean & Care Instruction

Thank you for choosing Rockland, please check if there are any defects of the products after purchase. (shoulder straps, buckles, zippers, sewing threads, etc) If the items have defects or are under expectations/needs, please check our exchange policy. We offer exchanges within seven days of the purchase date for products that are unused and in brand new condition with the tags still attached. We also offer one-year limited warranty of non-human factors and external damage. Please feel free to contact our official website customer service or store staff if you have further questions, we’d love to give you the best service we can.



   Bags   

Zip/Button all the zippers/buckles, make sure there’s no foreign body in every pocket and read the wash care labels before cleaning. Please check if there are any color bleeding of brand new products; Dark and lighter clothes/bags & accessories should be washed separately.


  1. Wash small dirty marks with water by a soft brush or melamine sponge, partly soak in water with neutral detergent (a pH7 detergent without bleach, fabric softener) for a while and brush again with stubborn stains.
  2. Soak and hand wash big dirty marks with neutral detergent and soft brush.
  3. To extend the life of your items, hang up in a well-ventilated area that’s not exposed todirect sunlight after cleaning.


※ Notes :
(1) Color fading are normal with some bags after washing.
(2) The function of Waterproof coating/waterproof membrane might decline after usage and time, as well as cracked or peel-off. It can only be repaired by patches, waterproof membrane are unrepairable.
(3) Waterproof zippers’ (waterproof zipper aren’t waterproof, it’s only water repellent) DWR coating might peel off after long-term usage, it’s normal and won’t affect the zip on/off function of the zippers.



   Clothes & Accessories   

Zip/Button all the zippers/buckles, make sure there’s no foreign body in every pocket and read the wash care labels before cleaning. Please check if there are any color bleeding of brand new products; Dark and lighter clothes/bags & accessories should be washed separately.


  1. Put your items in washing bags when machine wash, wash them with low spin speed and neutral detergent (a pH7 detergent without bleach and fabric softener) or a detergent suited to the garment(s).
  2. Hand washing is recommended with soft brush and neutral/specialized detergents, ideal water temperature is under 40°c. Do not over brush or wring out too hard, it might damage the fabrics. Pills and color fading are normal wear of some clothing due to fabrics friction after a period of time.
  3. To extend the life of your items, hang up in a well-ventilated area that’s not exposed to direct sunlight after cleaning.

※ Notes :
(1) Most of our G-1000 garments come pre-waxed, which made it wind and water resistant, but after a few washes and with regular use the wax will fade away. If you need a touch-up, please buy our Greenland Wax and follow the instruction to re-wax from our  website or store staff.
(2) In order to extend their life and maintain waterproof ability, washing frequently is not suggested for your waterproof garments.
(3) The DWR (durable water repellent) doesn’t last forever, it’ll fade away after washes, please re-impregnate regularly to make sure it stays functional.
(4) Animal fiber such as wool, silk should be away from sodium bicarbonate or any other alkaline detergent, which might damage the fabrics.



   Footwear   

Check the fabrics before cleaning (different fabrics require different brush and detergent), remove footbeds and laces, make sure here’s no foreign body in the shoes. Do not machine wash your shoes, high spin speed might distort them, please follow the care label.


  1. Brush off dirt and dust from the surface with a dry clothe or soft brush. Remove stubborn dirt under running water or with special cleaners. Hang up footbeds and stuff absorbent material inside the boots in a well-ventilated area that’s not exposed to direct sunlight after cleaning.
  2. Some models are water-repellent at the surface, it’ll fade away after washes and use. Apply wax or spray to dry footwear after cleaning.
  3. Leather is a natural product that needs to be looked after. Otherwise, it can dry out, crack and become brittle. The best way to look after leather is with wax, such as Hanwag Shoe Wax



   Down & Insulation   

A bit of down-leaking is normal, just rub and push it back into the seams. Do not pull it out or use any sharp item to poke it back, it might decrease the amount of down or damage the fabrics. Zip/Button all the zippers/buckles, make sure there’s no foreign body in every pocket and read the wash care labels before cleaning. Please check if there are any color bleeding of brand new products; Dark and lighter clothes/bags & accessories should be washed separately.


  1. Hand wash by soaking and squeezing in water with neutral detergent or down wash detergent. Hang up or lie flat in a well-ventilated area after cleaning. Give your down gear a good shake and hit to ensure the feathers don’t accumulate at the bottom. Storage your down gear only when it’s completely dry to avoid getting moldy.
  2. It’s OK to tumble dry down gear, use a low heat and not over an hour. But you should always check the product’s care label first.
  3. We recommend storing your down products in a dry, well-ventilated area and not in any kind of pack bag, as this will eventually affect the quality of the filling.



   Others   

  1. Check your gear before every use, please contact us if there are any unsolvable problem.
  2. To avoid stubborn dirt which might affect functions, wash/clean your gear ASAP depends on how dirty it is after use. Regular washing and maintenance could extend the lives of your gears and ensure a better user experience.
  3. Storage your gear in a dry and well-ventilated area that’s not exposed to direct sunlight.
