Description

Route : TAMSUI-KAVALAN CENTRAL TRAILS

Date: 15-18 March 2024 (Four days, three nights)

Package : Hike by Yourself NT$8,500 (Overnight outdoor experience required)

Meeting Time : March 15, 2024 (Friday)  1PM
Meeting point : 暖東峽谷停車場 Nuandong Canyon Parking Lot. Nuannuan Dist., Keelung City.  

End Time : March 18, 2024 (Monday) around 5PM
End point : 外澳接天宮 Jietianguang, Toucheng Township, Yilan County. 


Eligibility:

No age limit; individuals under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.Foreign participants must comply with our government’s Covid-19 regulations to be eligible for participation.


Registration Fee Includes:
Luggage transport
You may store the luggage which not required during the hike while registration. The maximum weight allowed is 5 kg
(Kindly note that checked luggage will be directly transported to the finishing point. Please do not to check in any equipment essential for the trek during the registration.)

Trekking Pass
The trekking pass contains the route and itinerary details. Please present it at each checkpoint for stamping during the trek. Upon reaching the finish point, you'll receive a badge and fabric emblem by presenting your trekking pass. 
(Note that you must Collect stamps from all checkpoints to qualify for the souvenir. )

Food
Nine meals are provided throughout the three days. 
-Day One: dinner
-Day Two: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
-Day Three: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
-Day Four: breakfast and lunch
Upon reaching the campsite each day, you will collect dinner for that day and breakfast+lunch for the following day.
Please note that breakfast and lunch on the first day, as well as trek food, are not included. Participants are advised to bring their own food based on personal preferences. Additionally, some provided food requires cooking, so it is essential to bring your own pots and stoves.

Gas
We provide Primus PowerGas (230g) only. If you use petrol or methylated spirit, you have to bring your own bottle.

Safety Flag
Attach the tag to your backpack.  it identifies you as a participant of the Taiwan Trail. And also helps to draw attention in the event of an emergency.

Trash Bag
A washable and reusable bag is provided for collecting your trash during the trek.

Badge and fabric emblem
Upon completing the trek, you will receive an exclusive souvenir of the Taiwan Trail at the finish by presenting your trekking pass. This includes a badge and fabric emblem.

Two Million NT Dollars of Mountaineering Insurance and Travel Insurance
The Mountaineering Insurance covers “injuries by accident resulting from the mountaineering event and the particulars specified in the contract such as frost bites and heat injuries.” There’s no coverage for any accidents due to personal illness. Please assess your safety risk and health conditions and consider arranging additional Insurance of The Person.

Transport fee
The registration is situated at the Nuandong Valley parking lot, while the finish is at Wai’ao. Both points are near railway stations. Please arrange your own transportation, and note that driving is not recommended due to the distinct starting and finishing points.

Food and beverages during the trek
Shops are available in a few sections along the course . Participants are responsible for the expenses of any purchases made during the trek.


Transport
The registration for the Taiwan Trail is located at the Nuandong Valley parking lot in Keelung, approximately 4 km from the Nuannuan Railway Station. Below are recommended transportation options to reach the registration site.

-On foot : approximately one-hour walk with verandas and sidewalks along the route. It is recommended in favorable weather conditions.
-By bus : Take Keelung Bus 603 heading off to Dongshiken and get off at the Nuandong Valley (The Scouts of China Activity Center) Stop.
-By taxi : Ten-minute ride.

Pick up equipment
At the registration, you will receive essential items such as the trekking pass, trash bag, gas, and safety tag. Additionally, you can leave your luggage for transportation to the finishing point, with a maximum weight of 5 kg. Your luggage can be retrieved upon arrival at the finish. Please note that there is no access to your luggage during the trek, so avoid checking in any equipment essential for the trek.

Food
We provide nine meals throughout the trek. Upon reaching the campsite each day, you will collect dinner for that day and breakfast+lunch for the following day. It means you don’t have to carry all the meals on your back. However, the breakfast and lunch on the first day and trek food are not included. Participants are advised to bring their own food based on personal needs and preferences.




Please be aware that along the Central Path of TK Trail, the only bustling area with shops is the vicinity of Shifen Railway Station. The other parts of the trail are relatively deserted. If you need to restock on food and equipment, please ensure to complete your shopping before checking in.
